Yes it's in there. I've had that happen in the past so I have several extra grometsin the glovebox. I'm starting to get the feeling it's internal.

I had the same problem with my AOD and foundout that the jackshaft was broken. I would check the TV cable first because it seems that it has to be perfectly set for the trans. to shift right.

Been messing with it a little more and come to find out, if I just put it in nuetral while I'm coasting and let the RPMs settle, it shifts. How much was it to get that jackshaft fixed??

I had an AOD once in a truck, kinda done the same thing as yours. They have the govenor in the tail part of the tranny. Run it up to about 30-35mph and throw it into reverse and then back into drive. This shocks the governor valve and will free any trash that might be in the govenor body. It can be done on jack stands if you fell like jacking it up. I know it sounds like a crack head idea, but I had a mechanic show me in my own vehicle. And it did do what he said, when I left his shop, the old tranny hit all 4 gears as it was meant to be.

Mine was on an 83 model truck. Maybe thats why I didn't have the shut off problem.
