Default C02

would hooking a line to spray C02 ONTO my intake manifold work to make the air going in a little cooler? i heard that it is possible to suck some of it in the intake and cause hp loss...mines in the fenderwell.
just a thought. im kinda scared of nitrous and c02 is cheaper and i can fill it myself.

Doing that is going to be a HUGE waste of money. If you want to cool your intake, spraying stuff on the outside isn't going to make a big enough difference unless you spray a LOT of it constantly to keep it cool. And even then I'm not so sure it would do anything at all.

I understand that nitrous can be scary, but if you are just looking to cool down the air, just run something like a 25 shot. That level is pretty damned safe and you're not going to see any major problems. You can even go a bit smaller if you can find the right jets and tune it.

If you are dead set against nitrous, then you have two other options.

1) Buy a spacer. I use a 1" spacer and it actualyl does a decent job. It keeps the upper intake so cool that I can hold my hand on it after running the engine hard. It also increases TQ.

2) They do sell water / methanol injection kits for N/A engines that will do what you want. And you can just run windshield washer fluid in it. You're not going to get huge gains but it will help.

yeah i would just use it when i race...it was just an idea i had. im not against nitrous...i just dont know enough about it and havent used it or been around it.
i have the eddy rpm2 manifolds, would the 1" spacer worh with the stock hood, and maby the strut tower brace (i think its called or somethin like that). also does it come with a gasket or do i need to order one and does it require special bolts because it will be 1" higher?

The only thing that CO2 would be good for is freezing an intercooler.

And shifting... but you have to be into some serious racing to want that

It would make a little difference. Nothing drastic but it would cool the air and give you longer runners. You should see some slight HP and TQ gains. But either way, it's definitely better than spraying CO2 on the outside of the intake [8D]
