Default Transmission trouble? Hel

I think I might have a problem with my tranny. Can anyone help diagnose it? I have a 95 GT with an automatic. Sometimes when I am running along about 65 or so and I give it a little throttle to downshift it quivers and doesn't shift very smooth. It seems to be worse right after I first start it in the mornings. I just bought the car a few days agoand I found a receipt in the glove box where the previous owner had the transmision serviced. Is this a serious problem that is going to get worse? Can it be easily repaired? I know nothing about transmissions and could use any input anyone has. And thanks to everyone for your responses to my newbie posting!</P>

well it sounds like it might be "slipping" if it is, thats a bitch prolly around 1200 bucks to do, maybe a little less cuz its an older model. this happened to my friends jeep grand cherokee shifting from 1st to 2nd and most of the estimates to fix it were around 1000...does the car like tostudderor likevibrate real hardwhen it happens?

What does your fluid look like. Also, Smell it. If it is dark and smells burnt you probably are slipping. Does it do it in the lower gears? If your not sure what good fluid should look and smell like, buy a quart at probably any local store that has an auto section. compare what you have with that. Gunner is right, if you are slipping, you probably will have to have it rebuilt. If you can take it out on your own, bench work will run you anywhere from 500-750. If you leave it in the car then you are looking at quite a bit more. The fact that the previous owner had the tranny serviced would make me nervous. How long ago was it serviced and for what. When you hit the gas does the engine seem like it is reving and the car is slow to respond. That may be another symptom. Hopefully, it is not that serious.

I agree with vfast. I have a bullet proofed C-4 with a B&M Megashifter. I love the way it runs now. I also have a TCI 3000 torque converter. Unless you have your heart set on a manual, a C-4 would be the way to go. They last and you can find them easily.
