It seems like 95% of engine faliures are someone's mistake at some point in time, either the builder or the operator
Well it isn't going to be the cars fault :P

Unless you get a freak failure of a computer or a sensor that ends in engine destruction

a bad sensor would be bad matainence in my opinoin... the computer thing is somewhat reasonable... but u could have a computer good cuz of a bad install or something along those lines... its pretty much human error

it was detonating (as seen by the silver flecks in the combustion chamber) and thats what broke the piston. running stock timing with a blower is a no no, it should have been retarded from the start.

improper timing/ tuning killed the engine. its not the blowers fault. its yours.

Its intercooled... So theres no need to reduce the timing much... It ran fine on stock timing before the heads went on.... Also, all the pistons were carboned up, none of the plugs or anything was lean. The silver flakes you were seeing is where the chunk of piston beat around until it passed through the exhaust valve...Also, i realized today when i went back out and looked at it to show my dad, we got to looking and my cylinder was egg shaped on #2, though i blew #6... It was the same way though. Kinda looks like the ring was pushing up against the weak *** piston where it had some travel and was getting some leverage on the outside edge of it as oposed to sitting underneath it.... Like i said though, it may have been timing, but it never knocked, pinged, or anything... Just started smoking... And all the plugs and pistons looked to be running plenty fat...

your car still looks and sounds sick so get the MF back together, might as well do a 331 stroker now
Thanks alot... But like i said, charger is gonna set in the basement for a while until i can put it on a fox body.. That way if i break it, i can put it in the garage until i'm ready to work on it, instead of being out of something to drive and have to drive my beater...

I've got an update on the engine... Took it the rest of the way apart today, and 5 of my pistons broke between the compression and scraper ring... One of the five being the one in the pic... I had one broken ring... Its amazing that it still made any power... It didn't smoke out of the pipes either, just out of the valve covers... But anyways, i'm guessing those sheety cast pistons couldn't handle the pressure, because there was no sign of detonation....

Timing wasn't advanced any, had it set stock... It didn't lean out from how the plugs and everything looked great... Damned ole cast pistons that someone put it it before me... I knew it was a matter of time before it came apart, not two weeks later though... Regardless, not gonna tear my car all to hell and it never really be dependable, so i'm gonna take the charger off for the time being and save it for a fox body and make this one my dd... My camry is getting a little old... haha
what did the car come with originally?
