So long as he's actually pinpointed where the sound is coming from. A leaky exhaust manifold gasket can fool you. As for the adjustment, sorry, can't help you there. [&o]

i went to his house as soon as he started it i told him hell no shut it off!!! the worst rod knock sound i ever heard!!!we are pulling the motor now, sucks cus he has a supposidely rebuilt motor. it goes ka clack clack ka clack and speeds up with the gas, its bad we tried changing oil n stuff but its prolly a loose cap on a rod or a main thats loose from him beating on it so much. it started as a ticking and whent to a clack according to him. so im helping him pull it and we are dropping the pan to look for loose stuff. wonder what he should all replace if and when we find a loose connecting rod bolt(S)?????

your gonna find worn out bearings on the main caps and rod caps, and need for new rings, nothing else.

Id replace the oil pump while your their.
