Default hp questions?

hey all, I have a question on the est. amount of power my stang will make when the 5.0 swap is said and done.

I know the '87 5.0 makes over 210 stock... so here are the parts I'm running/will be running when I buy them

'87 5.0 motor
-Stock headers
-Summit 2.5 inch O/R H-pipe
-summit 2.5 inch catback system
-edelbrock performer 289 intake
-Holley 600 cfm carb
smog delete
A/C delete
-stock P/S, water pump, alt and pullies
-bump in the timing.

would I be making around 220-225hp? or would I be making more or less?

87 made 225 stock
at the crank. ... Appx 190 - 200 at the wheels....

With the carb and exhaust, maybe 190 - 225 at the wheels. You never know....

my bad, so I should be making close to 240? I know an exhaust is only good for 10-30 hp depending on the setup... if I I am correct...

True if added to a built engine.. But on a stock engine, exhaust is only good for 8-10 HP realistically.

Oh yeah, it will have great power! Especially from driving a 3.8L..

The 5.0 is an amazing engine, although the numbers don't impress too many people, the 1/4 mile times do! and after all that's all that really matters..........

My 94's engine is tired, it has 200k on it (well 199,902) and it ran a 14.8 @ 92mph the first time to the track bone stock! That's impressive to me. Oh and I took it on a 300 mile trip last week, all freeway, and I got 24mpg... I cannot complain. In your 86, if it is tuned right (the carb) you should get great performance and good mileage as well.

thats pretty sweet, 27 highway mpg. I live in a rural area with few stoplights, mostly long winding country roads, so I count my mileage as highway.

slap a B cam in it while you can.... something small yet larger than stock - you'll be happy you did and i dont care what anyone says abotu using it with stock heads you will still notice the difference in performance (and sound of course)
