well sorry to hijack ur thread but i am looking for the same goals, and really no point in creating a new thread.

so i am looking to get into the high 10's-mid 11's. but i want to use a 351 based engine and a weiand supercharger or N/A???? no idea. and of course it will be carbed, as this is in a 85 lx coupe 5 speed. i was wondering if anyone had some input on what heads, valvetrain (i want a high revver if possible), and tranny (thinkin a six speed), and either 357 or a 393. i want to stay maxed with a 393 as i want a reliable street car. so what do you guys think for me?

suspension first. You can shave a ton off your car's times with just the basics, TIRES FIRST!!! get some rubber under the rear, then some gears, drag springs, drag shocks and struts. and take the front sway bar and toss it in a trash can (some say it makes your car feel like its going to flip over when you drive on the street, don't listen to them they're full of sh(t, i took mine off first day i had my new motor in, no problems.) after the suspension work on the motor, you should be able to get into the 11's with some basic mods on the stock 302 (assuming its in good condition) and a supercharger and of coarse the nitrous, but that prob aint' what you wanted to hear. lol.

You're not gonna get reliable 11's in a daily driver with the stock bottom end. Whatever amount of nitrous/mods/blower you use to get there is going to generate more combustion pressure than the pistons and rods will handle. You'll need forced induction or nitrous to see 11's out of a 302 though and still have it streetable and run on pump gas
