i understand that some vibrations will be there. afterall this car is an old mechanical device and vibrations will be common. but these vibrations are MAJOR they are so bad you can actually hear them. i think im gonna do U-joints and yokes on tranny and pinion.

do you still have the dogbone vibration damper on the rear end or did you remove it doing all that other work you mentioned??
they put them on there at the factory for a good reason but lots of people just throw them away for no good reason and then they have vibration problems. have you checked the condition of the motor mounts and rear tranny mount?? are they tight and in good condition or is the rubber cracked, etc.??

I have the same exact problem, and so did my dad until we got the tires checked, they were out of balance and the rims themselves were out of round. That's the most common problem. Take it to a rim and wheel place.

motor mounts are crappy, but again the vibrations arent coming from there. i havent looked at the tranny mounts yet, could those be causing THAT bad of a vibration, i mean its pretty bad... that dogbone structure is still there, i dont know what its for but i remember seeing a block of steel just sitting under/front of the pumpkin, if thats the object your referring to. other than that i dont know what else to look at. i might just get the wheels checked.

Usually bad vibration on the highway at specific speeds have to do with the driveshaft position. If it were ujoints you would notice lots of vibration as soon as 40mph. Remove the driveshaft bolts and rotate and bolt it back up. There are 4 positions to try.
