this is related, not trying to steal a thread. i have a friend that has a 351w for sale, non roller, its a mid 80's model not sure exactly what year. he wont tell me how much he wants. what would you offer him. is 300 too cheap? would 500 be too much? plz let me know i wanna get it now and build on the side while modding my 302

they quoted $80 plus tax to bore it over .030, thats all i having them do, these places like to overcharge you like a mo fo. Ill do the finish hone, freeze plugs, and cleaning. Ill be damned to pay them $400 dollars to do the rest on top of the 80[:'(].

most shops will charge 15-20$ per cyclinder to bore and clean shavings.

you can do the final hone yourself.


my cam bearings look like new with no scratches etc, and the cam was snug as hell coming out, really dont need but to clean them. so were the mains and rod bearings all good shape

What i need to know is firing order situation and the pushrod length I need to have?

you fail....... you dont do the final hone yourself. you let them do it because its done in a machine that ensures the bore stays true, you get the right finish for your rings, and its honed to the proper size. 99.9% of people on here do not have a bore gauge to check their work as they go. this is a tool that costs hundreds of dollars. let the machine shop hone the damn thing, and btw it should be 12-15 bucks a hole for bore AND hone, which should include them tossing it into the hot tank when their done so it comes back free of metal shavings

If it is just a short block and it is in good shape, i would pay no more than $150 for a 80's block. Even if it is a long block i would not pay more, because if you plan on building it really the block and maybe crank is all that you would use. I would alsomake sure it hasnt already been bored.
And getting back to original subject aode06 do not do this yourself, let a machine shop do it. If you are going to build engine with go-fast parts it would make no sense to skimp on the machine work. You will wind up paying more for a damaged engine then you would if you let machine shop do the work to begin with.

where can i find a351W 4.000 Stroke crankshaft that has INTERNAL BALANCE , THEY TOLD ME EXTERNAL BALANCE SUCKS AT HIGH RPMS

Well since you have a C6 ( looks like one) and a transfer case.... I say build a 4x4 fox...go muddin in that bitch.

Actually, looks like you got quite the setup coming. I like it when people find motors and start to do work already...not wait months and months (like I do)

I did my first HCI in the ice cold winter on the 302, I never give a dam, never have. My quote" get er done"[8D]
