Loose rod???

Default Loose rod???

I jsut took my motor out of the car, and i ws checking one of my rods where is bolts onto the crankshaft and its loose, i can wiggle it around pretty good.... all of them do just a little, but this is does it alot.....

what are my options.... do i just need to tigtneing it, change bearing or what

it'll move side to side a little but up and down movement should be next to none... I'd pull the cap and inspect the upper portion and lower half of the rod bearing and the journal of the crank shaft for a spun bearing.....if it spun the crankshaft journal will be scoured then you need to pull that rod if it is and have it reconditioned/resized and possible have the crank turned.....

if it's a rod knock then you'll need to have the rod resized and possibly the crank polished and or turned depending on the extent of the damage.
