Default Going dizzyless - How do U adapt Explorer CPS for 351W ???

Going to be throwing the Ford EDIS-8 distributorless
ignition system on my car and was wondering if anyone
knew how to mod the Explorer "Cam Position Sensor"
so that the shaft is long enough to reach on the longer 351W engine

I know it can and has been done just dont know HOW

Thanks

yes, thats why I know its possible, just didnt say how they
mod'd it to work, just that is was mod'd.

Hide the coil packs and plug wires a little and people really trip
out looking for missing dizzy and plug wires

A lot of people use this set-up with MegaSquirt.
Found cool vid of guy did it with 1973 Mach-1 and MegaSquirt on-line too.

all it really is, is a magnet. i'm sure there is a sensor somewhere, on some vehicle, that will work.

No this is what they are.

You can put this in place of dizzy so its totally gone, but you
still have to have something turning oil pump, but this is made for 5.0 engine.
You dont use the sensor just the shaft part to turn oil pump

351W needs a longer shaft, can you remove the shaft on these
and replace with shaft from something else?????? gotta be a way to do it.

if I had a 347 or similar 5.0 based engine it would drop right in.

mock up your scenario and do your best to measure accurately how much longer you need it, and take it to a fabricater/steel craftsman
you can elongate that shaft easily with the proper tools and measurements

Not bad, I have access to some good industrial machine shops, can always match it to
my 351 dizzy

bump.

anyone know of maybe a Ford truck that used a Cam Position Sensor like
the 5.0Explorer, but that came with a 351W in it?

Know a good Explorer Furom to ask this on? for their 351w swaps or something?

did you stop to think that it could simply be a modified 351w distributor base??

There should be some of the f-250s or larger e series van that used that set up with the 351 I would think, or did they stop make the 351 before that set up was available?
