I just pouded it back down flat with a rubber mallet on carpet so it would bend back towards the motor. Don't do it on concrete as you would just be smashing the metal.

if you can beat it in a little bit that would probably be easier, but cutting it you'd never have to worry about it again

remember to verifiy this is the problem before you yank anything - and your getting so good at motor pulls i wouldnt touch the trans i'd just rip the motor again. should only take you a few minutes to pull. if this is your last snag and everything else falls into place you could have it done in time no problem

I did the white out trick and turned the motor by hand, and well, basicallynone of thewhiteout got scraped off the weight, and I put on 2 coats of that stuff, which gets pretty thick... I did turn it around 4 times.

I can hear a slight scrape as it goes around, which may still be one of the studs.... so now I dont know if I should do anything else. its not locking anything up or causing any problems...

I know altering the weight is about as smart as putting a car in reverse at WOT, so I'm baffled....

so is the scrape constant? or just in 1 spot, or 2, or what?

it sounds like its only in 1 spot, but where that spot is, I cannot pinpoint...yet...Its up above where it swings above the starter opening... it makes a light scrape, then nothing....

swinging the motor is not too tough, I have 4 plugs out and the intake opened up (peeled the tape back...)

so why dont you glob the white out on the ends of the torque converter studs? once the nuts are tightened down you can grin those studs until they are flush with the top of the nut. that should keep the weight your removing equal (within such a small amount its no worry)

sounds like hopefully you wont have to pull 'er back out after all

in all honesty, i didnt even think of that... it was so cold out today, I only wanted to check the weight, but tomorrow is supposed to be nice, so I can do it then...

the last thing I want is to have to take her all apart again

though yesterday I did get a betterchance to look at the transmission linkages, and in all honesty, they dont look to be that difficult to follow and disconnect. so if I have to take apart anything, I may drop the transmission, its always a good time to learn about those, cuz ford didnt build them the best[&:] and if I have it out, its a perfect reason to put in a shift kit[8D]
