What cam to get?

What cam to get?
I am wanting to gain low to mid range power. Would like a little bit of a lobe sound, but not a priority. Also don't want it to surge if I am idling along in 1st gear (can deal with a suttle surge). Was going to go with a E303 but seems to be mid to high in the posts I read. Motor is stock.

RE: What cam to get?
u have want you want then... most all aftermarket cams will be for higher RPMs... and to get ne noticable gain in the lwoer end only would kill upper end.... i dunno why u want ot play 200 bucks for something that wont make enough difference for you to notice.. plus if it have mroe than 500 lift ull need to new springs new lifters and push rods... and ull need a new timing chain and gear combo newayz... and a good one is like 120 i think... so if u do it rite ull spend 500 bucks on all new parts for your valvetrain... or u could cut corners not gain much and **** up your valvetrain... what your asking for isnt worth the money bud... but its your money... call comp cam tell them what you want

RE: What cam to get?
Let me you all what I am doing. I am dropping the motor into a Bronco II (something I wanted to do since high school, but insuficent funds). So basicly I would like to gain a little on the low end and more on the mid and upper. Since it is a four wheel drive I don't want to start sacrificing low end power for more top end unlike my brother-in-law who puts top end stuff on his GMC pickup and wonders why it doesn't pull his boat any better. Also I don't want to start change a bunch of other stuff if I go to big because I want it to last. Also this converstion is costing a good little bit to begin with. So basicly I just want to change the cam while the motor is still out and not spend an *** load of money on the cam.

you want something from comp or crane designed for 4x4's. they will have better low end pull and crazy midrange power. they are very similar to marine cam grinds.
for instance, a crane part# 364215 (specificly for a truck/towing/offroad) is hyd. roller with 260/270 duration, .445/.470 lift, and an rpm range of 800-4600 with valve float @ 5200 using 100 lbs of seat pressure springs. stock springs are a little weaker than that, so float would be more like 5000 or so..... but if its going in to a 4x4 you should be seeing 5000 rpms anyways, and the lift isnt too great for stock springs so this would be a good choice cam and wouldnt cost you anything but a gasket set and the cam itself (your gonna wanna replace the timing chain while your in there)

RE: What cam to get?
Mostly really I will be just driving it around and not so much off road considering the paint is only 7 years old and the interior is really good. Might play with it on the street a little just for ****s and giggles but just don't want to lose any low end on a dino sheet. So basicly my best bet is to talk to my local hot rod shop and tell them what Iwant.Do any of the Ford cams hurt the low end? And eventually, after I replinsh my funds in a couple of years, I will put on a GT40 intake, 24 lb injectors, maf, and throttle body.
