Default Need opinion on motor

I have found a 302 HO out of a mustang with transmission harness and ECU for 1400. Car has 148k on it and he says motor was replaced at 80,000 miles. Do you think it is worth it?

Also what do you think stock leather front seats are worth with rails in good/decent condition?

what are your plans for the moter?? if you plan to mod the hell out of it then no it is not worth it, if you are just putting it in a car for transportation then i would say it is worth it to a point ( make sure you check the engine and tranny over before giving this guy a cent) just my 2 cents

seems like a little much but availibility in your area will determine the cost factor

he says everything shifts good and runs great I of course would verify. I think i would offer him 1200. Plans for motor are nothing fancy. Maybe a stroker and a mild cam. Dont' need anything big the car weighs 2200 lbs that it's going into

In my opinion, that price is nuts. You don't need all the harness and stuff, so why pay for it? $300/ea would be a bit more inline with my expectations for what could be a junkyard drivetrain. Maybe I'm nuts or cheap or both.

Sorry man... You didn't specify that so I assumed you were just looking for a replacement motor for your already injected 5.0.

No it's my fault I should have said the motor is going into a 1969 Triumph TR6. So with that being said do you think 1200 is a fair price for a good motor and trans? with ecu and harness?

Honestly... Not really... Unless the guy has documentation of what he says being true, and/or you can hear it run and everything I wouldn't mess with it. You can buy a completely clapped out, but running, 5.0 Mustang for $1200...

On a similiar note... My buddy (and sometimes I) are putting a Miata drivetrain in a Spitfire. Not quite as nasty as a 5.0 in a TR, but it should do nicely for the owner's needs. Good luck!

the whole "it was rebuilt" thing smells of BS to me, since there is no way that motor would have needed rebuilding byt the time that guy said it was rebuilt. im sorry, but 5.0's go more than 100k before its teardown time.

i smell scam [:@]
