3.73 gear install
Ok, today i just got a brand new Ford Racing 3.73 gear for my 83 mustang. I was wondering if anyone has installed this by themselves, or if i should just take it toa shop because its too much of a hassle. Whats an approximate price for just the install?

I did mine, it isn't too bad, but you need a indicator and a magnetic base (a micrometer and a depth micrometer will help to do it right) I have all those tools so it wasn't bad, just took time. No idea on install prices

Shop $200-250, it's worth it. O I hope u have a bearing kit!You wanna do that while the mechanic is in your differ that way everything turns smooth & cool. Bearing installation kit $80-90

Yea i got all the parts for the 3.73 gear(not the tools). But i know some ppl at Sutton Performance, so i think im gonna get it installed there. How long does it take for the shop to install a gear?

speed shop charged me $450, but i had them weld my axle tubes, innstal all new bearings, new axles, ring and gear, and suburn unit......so ya 200 sounds about right for just the install of the gear
