5.0 85 GT

i Have an 85 t-top gt, t-5 tranny, has the heads boiled,new crankshaft,pullies,airfilter,and a holley carb, and a 3 73 rear, what can i do to beef it up a little more? please let me know i feel i get jpped on my 5.0 carb, it seems there is no aftermarket liek there is for the 86 and up..thanks guys

That is a roller motor, and with a carb you are not as limited as you think you are. Basically you are only limited by the strength of the stock block. But head work, camshaft upgrade will really open that motor up a lot for starters.

your open to so much MORE than the fuel injected guys, don't let them fool ya

first thing i would do is grab a wieand action plus (model 8124) or edelbrock performer rpm intake and a holley / barry grant 575 / 600 cfm carb, and some longtube headers with a quality dual exhaust setup (no cats [8D])

next step is heads and cam, but you'd be amazed at what you'll unleash by letting that thing breath - the aluminum GT 4bbl intakes have REALLY small runners, like substantially smaller than the heads [>:]

OH COME ON!!!!. I f I can get my 85 to run low 12's on just a 306 then you have the same potential.........Get a cam , better intake like rpm or rpm air gap, some decent aluminum heads, roller rockers, better carb 600cfm will be fine.....as for exhaust get some equal length shorties and or long tubes, h or x-pipe and cat back exhaust system 2 1/2 ... the sky is the limit on your carbed 5.0...there is plenty of stuff out there you just have to know how to build a carbed 5.0 and welcome to the 5.0 carb'ed world!!!

ok thanks guys i also forgot to add, my car has headers of soem sort, and a mac catless h pipe, dyunomax flowtubes and borla mufflers, i will deffinately look into the bigger carb and intake..thanks alot guys, also, my tranny sounds like a roots supercharger 1st through 3rd at 1000rpm to 3600rpmish...anythign to be worried about?

It probably has the factory headers. Carbed car is alot cheaper to mod.

Get a RPM air gap....they are the way to go..

yeah!! your gonna need a tranny overhaul cause it sounds like the bearings are shot and wouldn't suprise me about the sincros and blocker rings too

i hope my trannys not shot...my rear seal is leaking, and i think its low on fluid..it shifts/runs perfect, just souinds lieka kb blower...wat do i do!!!!o and it does it on acceleration
