how do i do that if the starter cable is on the other side of the engine?

take your jumper cables hook them to the battery and the other side of the cables hook the black one to a chasis ground and then touch the positive one to the starter cable side...does it crank now?? make sure you have good connections and car is in nuetral........if this works then I know the starter is good...it should crank

ok so if it cranks what part is most likely broken assuming all connections are good?

I dont want to insult you but this happend to me is the battery water level good, also have you
had to put the battery on a charger to get it to start, my wife started my harley while i was in iraq,
and just let it idle yeap you guessed it it never got to enough rpms to charge it back up, so i placed it on
a charger and it would charge but would never supply enough amps to crank it over good luck.

ive tried it with 2 different batteries same result and i know one of them was fully charged because it started another mustang. terminals are clean as can be

so in your first post you said you replaced the starter......did you replace the selonoid too??? you said you knew it was good?? if so how?? do you have a test light handy cause we can solve this whole issue without starting the car asap if so
