Default Gears question???

I just went into mustangs unlimited today to get one of there new catalogs and of corse they had a set of 3.55 gears sitting on the shelf for 120 so of corse just geting payed and having the money burning a hole in my walet i got them. i payed and when i picked them up to leave i noticed that at the end of the gear there was part of the tooth missing ( just the very end)and a few of the others were slightly chiped, when i asked the guy behind the counter about it he said that it probably was from shipping and that it would not effect anything but i would still like to hear it from you guys.

He said that they were new and they look it besids the few spots.I will try to get picks up in a min.

personally just because they are 3.55's i'd do whatever you needed to do to return them

what gears do you have now ? check the door tag..."ax" code

m=2.73, z=3.08, e= 3.27

you will not notice anything you go at LEAST 3 sets up, and thats minor

seriously think about getting them higher (numerically) like 4.10's

the pics seem ok though

I went from 3.08 to 3.55's and I love them I shaved almoust 4tenths off. *** for the pics they dont look so bad, but if there is decent size chips or peices missing I would be very carefull, I personally wouldnt use them if they had iny flaws!

If it were me, I wouldn't have bought them and I def wouldn't be using them. How would you like another piece to come loose and f**k up your rear end. What brand are they anyway?

Pro's point is well taken. In a perfect world, with a good wear pattern, chips on the edges of gears wouldn't really matter. However, one must wonder what type of stress was put on the gear for it to chip in the first place. There could be hairline cracks throughout the gear, making it utter junk. I don't think i'd use it man. That's sure a real crappy situation.

I can speak from experience in saying that that is definitely not true.

As for the gears, definitely return them. I know you can find at least as good of a deal as that if not better on 3.55s

Dam i dont know what to do i think i should just call them tomorrow and see what they say about letting me bring them back tward some new gears.
And as far as brand idk and they said that they were not used that it was from shipping, and i did not see it right away when i looked at them that is why i bought them and then noticed it, i would not have bought them if i did. ok so i will try my best to return them. thanks guys i will let ya know how it goes.
