EGR install Killed Battery?

EGR install Killed Battery?
Changed my EGR valve.....I did it without disconnecting the battery. The next morning I wake up, the car was dead...
Charged the battery.......next morning, dead again.
Had it checked at Autozone.....it came up "Bad Battery" I replaced the battery, and I am wondering if it will be dead tomorrow when I wake up?!?
Question, did I blow the battery out somehow during the install? Or is there another problem in there that will kill my new battery too??
Ideas?

RE: EGR install Killed Battery?
I don't have a hoodlight.....but when I found the car dead, the parking lights were on...
I got in the car to see if they were on, but they were off. I switched them on, and they got brighter. When I shut them off, they were still on....but very dim.
I think that it had something to do with the alarm, but I think that is because the battery was dead. After all, Autozone tested the battery (3x times) as BAD.....
But I am wondering if I killed it? Is it possible to kill a battery that way?

no an egr valve replacement will mot cause a parasitic drain......if it's dead in the morning again... you need to get a multimeter and set it to amps and remove the neg battery cable and hook the meter in series and check the draw at rest... 25-50 milliamp draw at rest and no more.. above that and you have a drain and need to find out what circuit it is on

RE: EGR install Killed Battery?
They took it dead, and charged if for an hour (their recommendation).
Initially when they tested it, it said OK.5 minutes later, it said BAD. Then I had them run it a few more times and it was BAD every time...
Would plugging/unplugging the EGR without diconnecting the battery send a surge or something that killed the battery? It seems too convenient that the battery died after I was done with it

no the egr valve is vaccum controlled!! the sensor that is mounted on there on carries a 5 volt reference signal and it is a egr pintle position sensor

What do you think about the parking lights (that I mentioned earlier)? Is that something that was triggered by the alarm running with a dead battery? I never seen that before...

RE: EGR install Killed Battery?
personally I've never seen alarms cause anything but havoc...I'd pull it out...it's a good possibility it has a internal short and is what's causing the drain... seen it well more than once with aftermarket alarms on cars
