Spun Flywheel....
So Im about 100% sureI spun the teeth off the flywheel.
Money is tight right now and I have a new replacement flywheel, Im wondering how hard would it be to change it out myself?
Its in a 1990 GT 5speed.
Any information on how to go about it, tips, cautions, anything is appriated.

ummmmm....how do you know you broke teeth off your flywheel?
you cant actually "spin" you flywheel like you can a bearing, the flywheel is bolted into place on the crank, trust me if you broke those bolts off....you would know.

RE: Spun Flywheel....
I was told by a mechanic that I was missing a tooth, not long after that the car started making grinding nosies when I would crank it and shortly there after wouldnt turn over but sit and grind. When I try to turn it over it just makes this grinding nosie and wont fire.
Everyone Ive talked to about it tell me they think Ive broke the teeth off the flywheel.

yeah you probably ground the teeth on the flywheel bad enough and now the started doesn't want to engauge all the time. try replacing it yourself... if you can, you can get a flywheel cheap on ebay if money is really tight. the replacement isn't that bad of a job with simple jack stands and hand tools.

RE: Spun Flywheel....
I would pull the starter off and inspect the fly wheel, and even the the starter gear. I truly doubt you took off all the teeth on your flywheel. You may have one or 2 bad ones, but I would guess you have a bad starter gear. If it is just a couple teeth missing off your flywheel, you still need to fix it, but put a wrench on the crank and turn it a little so you can get it running.

I already have the OEM Replacement Flywheel and since I was told there is atleast one tooth gone I will replace it. As for the starter I was planning onchecking it and replacing it too. How hard isit to remove/check/replace the starter? Thepoint to this thread is finding out how to change everything. You guess seem to know what your doing, any instructions on how to go about the changes?
