Q's/opinions on build
Hey guys,
lookin at an '89 notch' right now with an Aod in it. I've put together a build for tranny in my head based on lots of reading and stuff. First off, i'll tell you whats gonna happen to the engine, It has a 75mm TB on it(is that too big?) and I plan on doing a ported and polished Junkyard Gt-40 upper+lower intake, ported and polished gt-40 heads, some1.6 or 1.7Roller Rockers, aftermarket cam, bbk eual lengths, h-pipe, and some aftermarket mufflers. Also might do an ac delete and some other stuff, dunno, maybe 240 rwhp give or take if i'm lucky, nothin crazy. BTW, engine guys, feel free to give me some pointers on the engine setup, anyway I can squeeze some extra power out would be nice. Also it's a dd so does that sound like an okay engine for a dd?
Anyway, I plan on getting a nice 3000rpm stall torque converter, a tranny cooler, a lentech manual valve body with electric o/d delete, and a B&M hammer shifter. I also might upgrade the input shaft and get an aluminum driveshaft. All this on 4.10 gears. So does this sound like it'll run alright? Also, since i'll have a tranny cooler I can pick up a lock up, or non-lock up torque converter. For what ima use the car for(DD) what would u guys recommend? Any help is greatly appreciated.
p.s.-I don't want people just tearin up the AOD, and tellin me how much it sucks, I just want some opinions on the build.
Thanks,
Tony

RE: Q's/opinions on build
well the lentech stuff is good stuff and IMO... a c-4 in a street strip fox would be a crime cause I'm a fan of OD.... oone reason I took the antiquated t-10 out of my 66 and put a t-5 in....3000 + rpm's just ain't cool on the highway at 60 mph...kinda runs outta steam before it reall even starts movin anywhere...anywaay your tranny build seems good...now choose the right cam..like call a custom cam grinder .like jay allen at camshaft innovations and have a cam taylore to your combo and have a decent tune done professionally and you could very well seet 275+rwhp..I think your 240 is a little on the low side if you get all supporting mods

Supporting mods
Like mjr said, do it right and you can see a lot more than 240. a 70mm TB would be better, but at this point it's not really worth the money to switch unless you can buy one and sell this one in the downtime. A 75+mm mass airflow sensor should be on that list, your stock one is just another choking point right now. Go bigger and you'll want some bigger injectors, 24# should do fine. A bigger fuel pump (190lph would do more than fine for that) and a fuel pressure regulator and you're set.
Don't forget subframe connectors and some rear lower control arms

Sounds like a good build! Seems like you have everything thought out. As for the torque converter, call edge racing, get a lockup converter. That way you will maintain DD availability.

Ed Curtis @ www.flowtechinduction.com is the man to go with.
He does not have the attitude issues like the guy at CI and has been doing it longer.
