Well my car has been acting alll haywire for the last couple of days. But yersterday was the worst... i was in stop and go traffic when all of a sudden my cars RPMs jump to 2k. It didn't want to go any lower unless i had it in gear. Now everytime i start the car it jumps to 2k, but after a minute or two i hear a funny sound like "errrrrrrrrr" coming from the engine. Any ideas??? I also just now installed new plugs and wires and noticed that a lot of the plugs had oil around the thread but not where the actual spark is.

just a guess. check your throttle body and egr plate as well as yout base idel settings. maybe something got stuck or something

same thing happened to me and i unplugged the tps sensor and it went away

stop guessing and moaning, start simple

run a koer test as suggested and then try cleaning the IAC.....if any codes are indicated..troubleshoot them first

I had a problem with my Idler plates It idled way to low maybe yours might just be to high but i would definattly hook it up and check the codes first also take a look at you mass air flow

my 94 gt does the same thing, i put it in neutral to save some gas going down a hill, and the ropms stay at 1950 rpms, so i have no idea wat is going on...where is the tps sensor?

I'd start even simpler than all that... Is your throttle cable sticking? Get under the hood with the car off and pull the linkage a couple times and see if the blade in the throttle body is closing.
