Default Power Steering Pressure Hose Blowoff!?!

About 1 year ago, my pressure hose blew out onthe nut on the pump...(but the nut remained in)

Bought a new one, torqued it to 20lbs (recomended 20-25)...and it blew off again. I then just pushed it back in, and it stayed good for almost a year......blew off again last week [:@]

Returned it for a new hose, installed it...blead the system, turned the tires while jacked up....everything seemed fine....drove it for 2 days no problems

Tried to turn around today, it blew off again [:@]

I did not think there should be that much pressure in there to keep blowing the hose off.....has anyone seen this?

I am beginning to think it is the pump...any ideas?

Here is a shot of the tube and bolt.....notice the nut is still in the pump, but the tube is in my hand:

Here is another shot:

Here is one of the remains of the hose....notice the nut is not on it anymore:

No clip.....I guess it has one of those flanges inside that tightens as you torque it down.....

I was extra carefull to torque it to the recommended specs....and it still blew off [:@]

Between what you told me on the PM, and from some other info I found on other sites....I will check the return line for a clog first....and then replace the pump.

They are only $60......hopefully it will work

I finally got her back on the road after my electrical/alternator problem.....and I am out of commission again [:@]

Gotta love it

Thereare some rumorsfloating around about Fordhaving some issues with this as a problem. They changed the fitting around 92 or so, with a new fitting on the hose and pump.

I'll see if I can find any info

Thanks!

That hose was actually for a 92....when I went to NAPA, they said the only hose they carry for the 93 was without AC....

I have AC, so they went a year back...

I did not think that would make any difference....but from what you said, it may be?

Let me know what you find out......I am going to blow out the other line today to check for blockage

Unfortunately, I cant seem to find it, but the way I stumbled on it was that I googled the reservoir part number and some dude had a write up about the different fittings and pumps over the years and he was saying that parts stores will usually give you the wrong pump and/or hose. I may have been wrong, the fitting change was done around mid 90 come to think of it.

fun ehh??? as long as you had the right tool the job is performed easy but pulling the pulley off is the most time consuming part of the job.. but not horrible.. there are alot bigger pains to deal with like heater cores[:@]
