I'm replacing my heater core today In the chilton manual it has directions forwithout a/c and with a/c. the directions for without a/c are 10 times longer but i think if you have an a/c then a lot of the directions are under the without a/c directions am I correct?? wish me luck

Changing heater core WITH a/c =dash has to be removed to get to it... several hour job.

Changing heater core WITHOUT a/c =can be removed through glove box... 1/2 hour job.

in 87 and up the dash has to come out regardless

it's gonna take awhile, took me 6 hours, and a buddy because i needed 2 pairs of hands. when you get the hvac box open stick the biggest socket in bewteen to keep it open and a screwdriver to pry it even more. this job sucks

gotta take the dash out 87 and later, through the glove box will not work (at least not in my 87)


paying the shop 400 to do it monday, good luck to you tho

I had to pull the dash. Took me about 3 hours total from start to finish. Make sure you get a name brand core,you don't wanna do it again.

would not discharging and disconnecting the a/c be a big deal? If it would be a big deal, how exactly do i do it?

I replaced mine twice, and I never disconnected the A/C...

Check out those directions I posted....they guide you through it without having to open any A/C lines...
