AOD shifts like my grandma
So I was doin a few pulls last night, lovin my new exhaust, and I most rarely ever go wide open but for kicks I wanted to hear my car, so I mash it and i swear I did it like 4 times and this tranny is shifting me at 4200. (I had in the D not overdrive) and I wont do the shuffle as i am religiously against it on this stock tranny. I remember reading somewhere about the TV cable but lord help me cause I have drove nothing but 5 speeds since I got my license so this aod crap is new to me. The powerbands arent different because of the tranny right? Or am I just nuts.

when I had my aod tranny it would shift right where the yellow part started on the gauges.I think thats around 4200 rpm.I was at wot by the way and it would still shift there.

RE: AOD shifts like my grandma
before lastnight my car shifted at 5000rpm (im pretty sure the car has a shift kit)
but lastnight, with the new off road H pipe, the car shifts about 200rpm sooner..............i guess loss of pressure? idk

RE: AOD shifts like my grandma
the big issue is gearing..... the aod has a 2.40 compared to t5 3.35
multiply that by your rear end gear and notice the difference in total gear
an aod needs 4.10's to compare a t5 w/ 3.08 in 1st
tv pressure is a snap.....there is a square rod under the tb, score the end of it on the connector b4 you do anything so you have a referance point
it will just pull out of the black grommet that hold it in the tb
then w/ a small screwdriver, pop the white tap out (not all the way just so it doesn't hold anymore) the spring tension will pull the assy back.
using your scoremark for a referance point, leave about a 1/4" gap from the scoremark to the new position, then stuff the white tab back in, then put the whole thing back in the tb
1/4" will be a noticibly firmer at mid throttle not so noticible under wot though
1/2" will make the tires bark on the 1-2 shift under moderate throttle too.
BUT ****** READ ME *****
you are increasing thre tv pressure blindly.....you really should be seeting it to optimum, which is a bit involved.
like the shuffle..it will help..but can hurt you too
1/4" more in terms of line pressure will (i highly doubt) do any harm though)

RE: AOD shifts like my grandma
Sounds to me like you need the epoxy mod so you canmanually shift it from 1st, to 2nd, and then into 3rd/OD. it will allow you to hold 1st and 2nd as long as you want. Eliminates the need to do the shuffle and costs about $5.
