how many miles do you have on the car and its most likely just the gauge if its not the gauge its the pump which is easy enough to replace
Don't forget, it could be the sender also.

148,000 on motor thats what worries me, i'm def gonna go through everything first, i already have a new oil pan so i'm gonna swap it out and throw in a new oil pump while im down there...does that make sense

that makes perfect sence. while your down there it is very easy to replace the rod and main cap bearings. i have 190k on mine and its all original pump bearings sending unit everything and i havent had a problem these engines run for ever
