Default Kenne Bell minus an H/C

I know this might be a dumb idea but i dont feel like really gutting my engine. I plan on buying a Kenne Bell Blowzilla 2.1L twin screw supercharger in the coming spring but I dont want to put new heads and a cam in. The whole idea of the rooted twin screw from kenne bell is its a bolt on and go application and they claim you dont need any pricey upgrades like a new cam or heads for you to get pull out of it. Is this a super bad idea or can I get away with it? thanks

It's not exactly bolt on and go, you'll still need a tune and should do supporting mods along with it. What kind of numbers are you expecting to see?

I would think that you would atleast need to upgrade the fuel pump, injectors, and mass air sensor.

I got one on my 94 and through an auto on a mustang dyno had just under 300 whp on 9 psi and 350 lbs of torque with a very broad powerband, i got a lightning mass air accell 36 injectors 255 walbro pump and aeromotive adjustable regulator with a good dynotune. If you only run 6psi you can get away with just an fmu.

put it on and run it, everyone is so worried about a tune which is the biggest load of ****. kb makes their kits for a stock 5.0. just dont drive it really hard for like a week so the computer can adapt. youll be surprised on what the stock ecu is capable of.

Good way to damage your motor. This isn't a head swap we're talking about, the stock ECU does not know how to handle boost. Fuel, timing and spark curves are going to be way off regardless.

I'm with ^

If you're gonna spend the money on a KB, spend an extra $600 for supporting mods + tune so it's safe...

spending the $3000-$4500 on a kb, supporting mods, and tune, makes 300RWHP seem disapointing.....[:'(] or is it just me

and sence there stock heads, i thought you could throw more boost at them?

like 13 or so

It is a lot of money for 300whp, but it's also a more simple install than heads/cam. I personally did h/c before a KB so I wouldn't have to take the KB off once it's on there. In my opinion if you're not gonna ever touch the motor and want boost go with a turbo, turbos make sick power even on a stock 5.0 engine.

A guy on another forum ran 11psi on a 1.5L KB kit and made right around 300whp with stock maf, tb, etc. and with traction it would have run 12s. I think even at the same boost level the 2.1L kit will make more power though.
