Default please help pilot bearing yes i already got it out

Ok after chiseling out my pilot bearing i figured out no autoparts store has the pilot bearing i need. The one they all tried to sell me was to big and it is extremly sloppy on the tranmission shaft. It sounds like i would need a pilot bearing for a 4 cyliner tranmisssion But it does not fit either it is to small to fit in the spot where it goes on but it appeared like it would fit on the shaft
i just got an idea though the 4 cyl one looks like it would fit in the regular bearing if that makes any sense. please help .

Have you heard of the the pilot bearing RACE?, is the race in the crankshaft still?

Are they trying to sell you the bearing, or the race as well

Dude you took out the race and the bearing

You need a pilot bearing and a new race, the proper way to remove the bearing is with a pilot bearing puller.

You can rent the puller and slide hammer from Autozone for around $40. It takes about 30 secs to get it out correctly.

All the pilot bearings I've gotten before were the bearing/race assembly. Another way to remove them if you don't have a puller(which works better) is to pack the hole with grease, and use a pipe etc(not hollow) that fits snug intside the bearing, and whack it like a **** in hard hits with a hammer, it drives the bearing out hydraulically. It can be a pia though, and a puller is easier to use.

Ill give you some good advice guy,

replace the rear main seal(one piece) while you are there. Remove your old one, clean the lip area with a rag and some alcohol, etc, beer works just fine

Replace it with one from NAPA, (teflon), lube the outer with vaseline before install .

Dont feel bad, you could of busted your crank up but didnt, I bet you had a hell of a time with that chisel
