aode, while we are on the subject, what exactly is "blueprinting" a block?
Crankshaft: Inspection,Deburring,Shotpeening and Stress Relieving,Crankshaft weights smoothed and knife edged,Cross-Drilling,Chamfering Oil Holes,Counterweight Modifications,Tufftriding,Micropolished,Straightening,Stroke Checking,Rod Side Clearance,Rod Bearing Clearance.

Pistons: Piston-to-Wall Clearance , Piston Materials and Applications , Ring Grooves Cleaned and Measured| Valve Pockets redone| Dome Fitting and Radiusing | Chamber Size and Piston Domes Checked and fixed | Checking Piston Thickness | Piston Lightening | Piston Skirt Preparation | Skirt-to-Crankshaft Clearance | Piston Rings | Ring End Gaps for Nitrous and Blower Motors | Pins, inspect or replace.

Camshaft: Altering Cam Timing IF Necc | Finding Top Dead Center | Checking Intake Centerline | Checking Cam Phasing | Degreeing Cams | Cam Graphing |

Block: Cleaned, bored, alighned honed, new freezeout plugs, threads chased, new cam bearings, flat milled deck, sonic tested, dye tested etc.

Note- it is very common for pushrods to come different lengthsinvisible to the naked eye, in the same box[:'(]

I had an senior machinist show me, ALL THE VERY LOW QUALITY, ford put into their Machining Process.

balance $275

notch block$ 75

Bore, Hone, Clean, cam Bearings, freeze Out Plugs, Chase Threads, Align Hone. $350

If you let them install the kit add another $400 labor to that. They are gonna go through every little spec they can, to ensure a precision fit ie... gapping rings, testing piston fitment, thrust, endplays, quench, PTV Clearance,Deck Block, hone lifter bores, and Degreeing the cam.

So yeah, about $1,000+ to do it right.

More for a blueprint$$$$

no ultrasonic test?

....nope... that is one of the excuses given by the assembler (notice I did not use builder) when something goes wrong.
