IAC= Idle Air Control, it stands out like a big errection on the Throttle body on the front of it, If removed you will see two holes about an inch big, take it out and clean it with some brake cleaner or replace it with a new one, im not saying its the exact probleme but try there first and clean your MAF
MAF= Mass Air Flow, and this is right after the air filter, its black and cant miss it, if your looking that the throttle body you went to far

The slight popping is probably the smog pump. No big deal.
The ECM (computer) momentarily kicks up the rpms when yopu first push in the clutch to shift. This makes shifting smoother. Quite normal in most cases. It does sound like your IAC is sticking though. Also make sure that at idle, the TPS voltage output is under 1V. Preferably around .97v.

all right cool.
I'll clean the IAC tomarrow.
I know theres a how to thread on how to check the tps voltage but I forgot were it is and have been searching for it for a while because I was going to check it anyway can someone point me towards the thread on that? is it in articles?
