Gears grinding and not moving

Gears grinding and not moving
I'm curious as to what would cause this.
When I start my 91 GT 5 speed with the foot on the brake and the clutch sunk and I start going through the gears;
Gear 1 - Ok
Gear 2 - Grinds (a little)
Gear 3 - Grinds
Gear 4 - Ok
Gear 5 - Ok
Reverse - Grinds
Is this a:
1. Gearbox Problem (Syncros or Just replace)?
2. Clutch Problem (Adjust or Just replace)?
3. Idle Problem (idles at about 1k RPM)
4. Something else?

syncros are junked in 2nd and 3rd gears, try doing an oil change and use gm syncromesh and your idle shouldnt be that high, it should be around the 750 mark [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

How do I oil change a gearbox? Is there a drain plug?

Those gears are a common problem when your clutch cable has been stretched. Try adjusting it or just replacing it.

Highly unlikely.

ohh and btw, it will always grind in reverse, cuz theres no syncros in reverse

Try pressing the clutch pedal and wait about 3 or more seconds. This will give the disc time to stop spinning. If you can now engage reverse without grinding you can be sure your clutch is fully disengaging.
bbb. I do believe synchros are not your problem. Because you have this problem with forward AND reverse.
Most likely your clutch is not fully disengaging. How far up off the carpet does your clutch start to engage?
As for an idle problem. Definately not related.

No. It will only grind going into reverse if your clutch disc/input shaft etc are still spinning and you try to engage reverse.

My clutch engages right off the carpet. I also have an adjustable cable and there's slack in the cable. I'm going to adjust and tighten it this evening.
