And what is this "MD knows what he's talking about" ? Look anywhere. I bought my friends car off him and took the motor and tranny out and was going to rebuild it and put it in my car. But it had a crack in the block so that is why I bought a Ford Racing motor.The 5 speed is in my car now.If you remember I am trying to sell some parts some of which are a Holly 600 cfm carb and intake which came from his mercury capri from the factory. It is 175 hp and 245-260 lb-ft torque I cant beleave you people lol and i'm also selling some JBA headers if anyone wants them <IMG src=smileys/smiley4.gif border="0"></P>

T5, your totally extenuated. This forum has a lot of smart-mouth punks. Honestly I just laugh when I read some of this stuff. Thats the best way to take it.... Just laugh at punks with nothing better to do than incite peope to argue on the internet. Hell, most of the smart-assed ones don't even own a car. Yes I did state my facts and i'm trying to move on but I guess it takes more for some to beleave that a capri had more then 139 horsepower lol

i've found a mustang of the same year is supposed to be rated at 165hp...dunno if theyre exactly the same.

Yeah, that's why I said you were totally justified. Some people just can't take being wrong about something. Anyway, my (ex)bro-in-law had a Capri. It was quick... he had quite a few mods to it though. Then he pulled it out and built it from the ground up. There wasn't a 50 in our area that could touch it. it was ugly as sin though.... purple with white stripes. I love seeing old ugly *** cars just kill these young punks ridingin their nice cars that daddy paid for. He also had an 82 GT that he built pretty hard-core. It was primer gray, no interior (no backseat, no carpet, nothing). We would be on our local cruise strip and these kids would roll up in new 50s, Z's... and look at us and laugh. Well... needless to say they weren't laughing after about 60 ft!

280 would be about 25% loss from 370. Seems high to me unless you're running it through an automatic.

OK let me try and figure out everything here are we talking about a 6cyl engine or 8? because all i know about are 8 cyl. And a fuel injected 8 cyl mustang came stock with 215-225 horsepower and about 300 ft-lb's of tourqe. No what you are saying about the capri may be true but its kinda leary due to the fact that headers do not add that much horse unless some other mods were done. Thats the only thing im having trouble trying to figure out. And did you actually witness your freinds smoking these 5.0's? or did you just go by his stories? either way i dont know im just spectating this all

Yes I was in the car one of the 3 times he tried to beat this one person brand new motor 89 convertable 5.0 He has also beaten other 5.0s rice rockets etc, but that car is long gone like I think i said before... he sold it to me and then he bought a 1998 Acura GSR. His capri was way faster as I said before also his best time was a 15 flat. Remember it did have Full exhaust from the Headers on down.
