Default please help

my 89 5.0 mustangs Coil wire shorted out on the headers, and now my car wont run unless i take a wire from the battery and jump it to the coil. what could I have blown ? my cars battery will not stay charge also, its brand new, i dont see any blown fuses

one of the wires that goes to the coil should be hot in the koeo mode and that goes back to the ignition switch and there is a fusible link inline I believe but I thought there was also a fuse in the fuse box for the ignition..double check them and as for the parasitic drain you have...you need to hook a multimeter inline between the neg battery terminal and batt post and see what the amp reading is...should have no more than 25-50 milliamp at rest...if you got more you'll need to pull fuses and watch the meter until the reading drops within spec and then you'll have the circuit on which the draw/short is on..from there you'll have to narrow it down to a component in the circuit

that's because you don't know what your doing or how to go about troubleshooting it!! get a wiring diagram of the ignition system and go point to point
