Default Change CAI, now car idles and runs rough

When I bought the car it had one of those eBay wanna-be BBK intakes on it, so I threw on a C&L intake just this weekend. I took the MAF sensor off and put it on the C&L piece, hooked everything up, and then blah.

The car wants to stall at idle... it is a little rough, and every so often jumps from 750 RPM to 500 RPM, and even stalls out once in a while. Once the car gets rolling it isn't so bad, but I definately feel like it isn't running right. The check engine light came on once, then left once I turned the car off and back on again.

What the heck could this be? It is such a basic and simple bolt on. I checked the clamps, and everything looks alright.

Thanks.

DO you have the MAF sensor sitting straight up?

Make sure you didnt accidentally touch the MAF while you were swapping it over, and make sure that you didnt pull any of the wires out of the harness as well. How does the throttle respond? Does it rev right up or does it stutter

I am sure I didn't touch the MAF when I swapped it. I double checked the wires and it looks good. The car revs up relatively well and has good throttle response from a roll. I am sort of baffled. [:-]

The new filter, was it over oiled? You should start by cleaning the maf if so. The excess oil will cause false readings.... see this all the time.... on Pontiac's with also throws off the shift points and feels like bumper cars driving down the road.
