Default c&l maf question

i just grabbed a 73mm c&l maf for my 89 gt today...guy said its for the 24# injectors..i ran the #'s off the sensor itself and its for a 93 mustang ( not cobra) meaning its for 19# injectors, so i then took my 24# maf sensor and dropped it into the c&l housing...car ran like crap...is it possible the tube inside is for 19# injectors?? is there any distinctive way to tell the tube is silver..thanks

if the meter is like my c&l it is calibrated by the sample tube inside the meter, thats the little housing around the wires in the tube. it needs to be ran with a stock calibrated 19lb/hr sensor, and you change the calibration by buying a new sample tube for it.

Measure the tube ID, on both the inlet and outlet...
Compare then to the following...
http://www.freewebs.com/vristang/clsampletubes.htm

However,
Most likely you just stuck the WRONG sensor on the RIGHT meter.
The sensor itself is not 'calibrated' for an injector size. The entire MAF assy (housing, sample tube, and sensor) are calibrated as a unit.
When you put the 'other' sensor in the C&L housing, you likely F'd things up (to put it bluntly... )

Put the original sensor back in the C&L and see how that works.

When you get the tube measured, let us know the diameter.
Also, what is the part number of the Ford sensor you have? 'F1ZF' with an 'AFH55' in there somewhere???
Just for grins/safety... what ecu are you running?

the C&L maf systems are designed to work with stock electronics. But the sensor that came with it, back in... and put it back in the car

What sensor is in the C&L when it is running like crap?

With the A9L you should have the F1ZF sensor in the C&L.
Then change the sample tube to get the 'calibration' you need... 24Lb correct?

Measure the diameter of the sample tube you have... If you need a different one, they are only like $30...
