Stock E7 springs are only good for a stock cam. The spring rate needs to be matched to any cam used. To run an "F" cam in stock heads you should replace the springs and retainers with FRP B-50 springs and A-50 retainers. FoxGT I am willing to bet you have valve float at high rpm and are probably at coil bind or very close to coil bind on the exhast valve.

Like I said though, I don't recommend running any stock valvetrain parts with the cam. But I have over 30k on mine with no problems & helped a friend install one on his 5.0, he has a little under 15k to my knowledge on stock valvetrain, so I know very well it's possible.

some win wit stock springs some don't an e -cam I had in my 92 didn't like stock springs at all..would hit a wall at 5600 and break up bad!! switched to f-cam and proper springs and wham!!! fixed....the f-cam and stock bottom end will not cause ptv issues ecpecially with stock heads I have a set on mine and no ptv issues..irregardless you should always check for ptv... I have installed that cam many times for friends and no issues but you need the proper springs and retainers
