Default Strut Bushings

Would you guys replace the strut bushings and not the struts?? I was talking to my brother who is the real mechanic in the family and he said he wouldn't do one without the other. I know if I waited to do the struts later it is just twice the work but my money says that is ok. My struts seem to be in good condition but my bushings are smashed and I think the lower is broke and comming apart. I believe that is why my passenger side sits lower than my driver side. I can see that the top bushing is deteriorated and looks thinner than the driver side and it has alot more movement at the top (moving it around by hand) than the driver side. I know there shouldn't be any really with good bushings. I am gonna get a set of prothanes from Latemodel for like $17.
