Default power window fix

I got the replacement plastic bushings for the motorso Ipulled the door panel off. The power window motor appears to be riveted in place. If I drill out the rivets can I just pull the motor away from the window regulator? Its hard to see back in there.

Its not riveted. The regulator is riveted. There should be three brass looking bolts. Remove those and unhook the motor and remove it through the speaker hole.

Okay thanks. I saw the three bolts (brass or cadmium plated or whatever), but I thought they were for the cover on the motor and not mounting bolts.

You need to remove the regulator and motor as one. Drill the rivets out and remove. Use vise grips to huld the regulator from moving. Unbolt the motoer and swap. If you don't have rivets or a gun use nuts and bolts. You can get the big daddy rivet gun for $20. Its good to have

No you dont. You can remove the motor without touching the regulator. Just those 3 bolts and the wire. Slips right out.

Just to clarify things a bit, this is a '94 sn95 stang. The three bolts appear to be holding the cover on the motor they're not bolted to the door frame. There are access holes in the door frame to get at the three bolts, but there are also two rivets which I think are holding the motor in place. And yes, the regulator is mounted with rivets.[sm=bicker.gif]

SN-95's are harder, does it look like you can access the 3 bolts that hold it on? If you have to remove the whole thing its kinda a bich cause all the door glass allingments

There's access to the three bolts, but they don't appear to be mounting bolts for the motor. They look like they're holding the cover on the motor.
