Default Front Spring Install???

I am installing my new H&R springs on my 90 foxbody. I am working on the front and have been able to get the old one out, but I cannot seem to get the new one in? I have the a-frame as far down as it will go, but I cannot seem to get the top to slide in. It gets hung about half way in. What's the trick?? Do I need a spring compressor??

Take the control arm off, reconnect the steering knuckle to the ball joint, install the spring from the back side, compress the spring and the control arm into place with a floor jack and reconnect the control arm bolts.

be careful when doing springs! I had a hard time with my front spring too, I used spring compressors and a floor jack

do NOT rent a cheap compressor from autozone

i put one on my old springs, went inside to get the new springs and when i came out the teeth had snapped off allowing the spring to decompress. if i was near the car when that happend.. it could have turned ugly

i wish i could help you w/ the fronts. i was gonna do them myself but my car was at the shop getting a new oil pump, oil pan, steering rack, and tie rods. so i just had them put the front springs on while they were in there.

but the rears are easy as ****. just let the axel hang as much as it can and just rip them out. they should be loose. you may need to step on the drum to push it down to get the new ones in. but its quick to do.

good luck

I wouldnt recommend doing it without a spring compressor...and the thing about Autozone rental ones being junk is true...the safety pins on the one I rented first were bent so bad from the compressor coming undone they wouldnt fit anymore...

I’ve used autozones or advanced (cant remember) spring compressors a few times and have never had a problem.&amp\\;nbsp\\; Worked great everytime.&amp\\;nbsp\\; Just a little FYI.
