RE: steering shaft assembly help!
send it back where ever you got it and get yourself a maximum motorsports shaft... seriously. Much better design and not worth loosing your life because the set screws back out. Look around the internet and you will hear tons of horror stories about them. I was having problems with mine also and than I started doing some research and starter hearing tons of bad things, I immediately called summit and told them I wanted nothing to do with their shaft, after that they kindly credited my account $175 bucks. GOOD LUCK.

RE: steering shaft assembly help!
isnt it a collapsable shaft like the stock one? you should be able to push it into itself the 2 inches you need. all steering shafts have to be collapsable its federal law
