Spark and gas but no start

Spark and gas but no start
I have a 347 with a bunch of mods done to it in a 93. I can get it started and it runs good but after a little drive once it warms up if I shut it off it won't start back up.At first it turns over hard but then it just cranks right over but doesnt catch. There's fuel pressure and spark but it doesnt start. Just looking for some ideas. Also the motor is very hot. The water temp is only 180-190 but the block seems very hot. The valve covers are very hot to the touch. Someone told me my fan might not be cooling the block off enough and the fuel is getting too hot. I have a 15"electric fan on the front of the radiator pushing air through and that's it.Should I put the stock fan back on?

my temp runs there and the valve covers are hot to the touch...your correlation is invalid in this instance ..anyway...check for injector pulse..just cause you got fuel pressure doesn't mean the injectors are pulsing..could be related to tfi.. carry a can of spray start and when it does it..spray some ether in the TB...AND check for start

yep, noid light.
as far as the engine being hot, that kinda happens to a running engine.... especially a 347, you have more combustion going on in that block, but no matter what your block and vanve covers, intake etc are going to be hot if the car was running. the fan isnt made to cool the block, it's made to pull air accross the radiator to cool off the coolant in there so it can go through the block. it may be the tfi module going bad. on fox's they get too hot on the dizzy and end up frying

I know a running engine gets hot, I just didnt think it should be as hot as it is. tfi has been replaced. The thing is though it starts when its cold just not hot, after it cools down it fires right up.

sounds like your tfi is starting to go bad, they are known to start getting screwy when they are bad and get hot. Take it off and get it tested, a good parts store can test it for you.

if you've ut in a new tfi already, you could try a new coil, you may get spark but it could be really weak, i know on 86whiteponys car we had to put a new coil in when there was spark, it was just too weak to start it up
