Default Which thermostat to use

I am going to replace my T-Stat and am not sure which one to use. My 86 GT runs a little hot on 90+ days. I was thinking of going with a 160 degree T-Stat. Any down side to going with a cooler one??? Car is never driven in the winter. What is the factor recomended one??
Thanks
Mat

you don't want that one...either get the 190 stock or a 180. I got the 180* stat.

you cannot fix an overheating problem with a colder T-stat unless the overheating problem you have is a BAD t-stat

I will go with the 180 as seems to be the recomended one. My engine only goes past the "R" in "NORMAL" into the "M" on very hot days.Has notgone past that point yet. I just purchased this car and am trying to work out all of the bugs. I am going to start with the T-stat and if that doesnt work I will look further into a possible cloged radiator. Start with the cheeper part first.
Thanks for all the advice

Get the 180. Being Supercharged you will probably run a little hotter than before since the supercharger makes heat.

bringing this thread back from the dead...

what is the difference between copper/brass and stainless steel thermostats? looking at Summit, that seems to be the main choice (other than the temp rating, which has been discussed to death).
What are the pros/cons of each kind? Any real difference in performance, durability, etc?
