Egg shaped intermediate shaft

Egg shaped intermediate shaft
When I was pulling my stock engine out of my 86gt we had a hell of a time getting the tranny intermediate shaft to come out of flywheel and seperate from engine. Finally we got it and when we looked at throwout bearing it was bent on the outside edges so I assumed that was what was holding it. I had no problems with it before it ran good and manually shifted good. the tranny was a recently rebuilt wordclass t-5 tranny. I think something may have went wrong on the install or something. When my buddy went to put the engine back in he noticed the intermediate shaft was egg shaped. the only way he could get it in the bearing was to hone it.
Do you all think it will last and if not do I risk messing anything else up or will it just stop?If i repair tranny will the whole thing have to be rebuilt orjust new intermediate shaft?

RE: Egg shaped intermediate shaft
I think you are talking about the bearing retainer, and if its oval, then it got bent somehow, you should never have to hone it to fit the throwout bearing.
get a new bearing retainer and throwout bearing and you should be fine.
some pics will really help out with diagnosing whats wrong since ive never heard of an intermediate shaft, and ive built 2 T-5's now
