Default clutch cable install Q.

ive got the stock cable and quadrant out and now im installing the zoom cable and quadrant on my 94 gt. the instructions state that you can discard the stock quadrant along with the springs thatwere beside it. now when you put the quadrant on without those springs there is nothing to keep it from moving back and forth. the pins keep it from falling off but that cant be right that it should just be that lose, right???? if the springs dont work i guess there needs to be some kind of spacer. can anyone clear this up for me??

yes there should be a spacer in there. I just put one on my 95 GT and a spacer came with it. If yours didnt come with a spacer you could substitute it with something similar as long as there is no play.

I just put one on a 93 it may be different but there was no spacer. The tension from the pressure plate through the cable keeps it from being lose. I took the 2 plastic pieces along with the springs tossed them, installed the aluminum quadrant and it works perfectly.

You want it loose so the cable will self-center itself on the quadrant. We found this out the nard way on my brother's 03.

alright then guys ill try it loose, i guess since its anadjustable cable its up to you to keep tension on it. that one guy said for his 95 though it came with a spacer, can anyone clairify this. the kit is for foxbodys and sn95's so i dont see that it should be different between the years.

The only spacer ive seen in a kit was a spacer to allow a smaller diameter cable end to be used where it goes into a firewall adjuster.
