couple of questions
i'm looking at buying a 92 gt. it is a automatic, with around 113k miles on it. i'm not real sure of the up grades that have been done to it as i hope to get a list of mods in the next couple days. here is what i know so far.
it has a SCT Chip
differant intake(not sure what brand)
exhaust work done to it(not sure here either if its got headers, or brand)
thats about all i know about the car. my question is what all up grades need to be done to get the best perfomance out of that chip? the owner right now said it was running rough and took it to a dyno to get tuned. said he got 80hp just from adding the chip, over whatever other up grades he has done. does this sound about right??? or is he blowing smoke??
when i get the list i will post what i learn about the car.

RE: couple of questions
80 extra hp out of a nearly stock 5.0 hmmmmmmmmmm with a miricle chip...sounds a little fishy to me expecially since you say it's running bad??........add some 4.10 gears a stall convertor and heads, and cam if it doesn't have them already to compliment the aftermarket intake

RE: couple of questions
yea 80hp sounds like a miricle chip to me too. i'm anxious to see the list of other mods.
you say about 4.10s i was thinking more like 3.90s i'm sure there isn't that big a differance, but i'm sure the car will see more time on the road than the track. my plan is to leave it the way it is till the great tax return time in the spring, then it will get some nice work done it.
it is also running great now that it was tuned.
is their anyithing you can tell me about the SCT chips? i hear chips on the fox bodies are pretty much a waste of money. i did do a search here, but didn't find anything.

RE: couple of questions
sct chips are decent but they are a waste on a stock fox... when you are producing enough power to warrant a chip then they are worth it...and 3.90's should be a decent compromise

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE
i went and look at the car tonight, and got the list of mods done to it. here is what i have learned.
1992 GT
automatic/drag shift equipped through dyno tune
113,500 miles
elderbrock intake manifold
BBK 70mm trottle body, and spacers
BBK cold air intake
new water pump
electric fan
cobra R aftermarket hood
new fuel filter
new plugs, and wires(autolites)
aftermarket head lights
flows w/o cats
SCT chip(bypasses computer to tune with a laptop)
dyno tuned(have papers) 225hp to the wheels
is lowered
has stock gears. not sure what they are.
A/C is still there and works
the car is no beauty to look at. this is the stuff i noticed
the hood doesn't line up with fenders.
where fender meets driver door its all booger'd up
rear bumper cracked and missing paint(looks like it can be bondo'd)
missing front fog lamps
was in an accident had original clutch to fan touching the fins of the rad, so all was replaced
newer front end do to being fixed, along with fenders, and probably why he put the cobra r hood on
has an ugly euro style wing thats pretty booger'd up to, but has a a stock gt wing to go with.
has a recustruction title
so this is what i know about the car now. i don't think its a bad deal for 2-2500. i'm open to opinions or thoughts about this car.
thanks for any and all input
