Default smoke, please help

89, 5.0 5 speed. 84k. Smoke occasionally when at a stoplight, oil smoke. maybe 1 of 10 stops. I tend to downshift. Need to get resolved. Ideas? Rings? valveguides?

One post is fine, this is not a chat room so don't expect instant answers.

Didn't mean to do multiples, I realize it's not a chat room, kept getting an error, and didn't realize they were posting. I won't bother you again.........Thanks.

Sorry for coming off like a dick, didn't mean to discourage you or the board. I will start off on a couple things and others with more details will chime in as well.

If it is a small black puff during slow down and down shifting it sounds like excess fuel burn off. If it more of blue smoke and more constant with higher RPM or heavy take offs then it could be worn rings, valve guide etc, pull a bank of plugs from the side you suspect and take a look to see if they have a nice oil coating on them and let us know what you find.

Is the smoke coming out of the exhaust or coming up from around the car? Could be a gasket leaking onto the exhaust.

Good thought, kinda hard to tell as the exhaust exist under the car with turndowns, but fairly certain it's the exhaust.

OK, just went for a hard drive. DOES NOT smoke at all until it warms up. It seems that is smokes the most after a hard run, coming to a stop, and a little under high loads. I am thinking the oil drain down holes in the head may be partially blocked, and the valve seals may be going, does this sound logical?? I think the oil is building up in the heads, and then overwhelming the seals.
