I was on my way home today and I went to shift into another gear, happened to look down and the needle fell to 0. I have already purchased a new speedo gear for the tranny and haven't had time to install it. When I purchased my car it had recently had a gear change and speedo was off. I ordered a new one from 50resto. Before it broke, and since I have purchased it, the needle has bounced at LOW speeds and straightened out at about 30 MPH. I talked to a guy that I work with that is an enthusiest and said that his did that and the teeth were worn on the gear, I thought no problem I planned on changing that out. Then I talked to another friend that is an avid mustang racer, and said his bounced and it was the cable. My worry is I have never had to take the cluster out and don't know how much of a pain it is to get it out if it is indeed the cable and not the gear. Anyone got any input on where to begin? Guess it would help to purchase a Chilton's book?!?!
