I bought a mustang today.. When I hit a bump the car will start cutting out.. The cd player will flash and the RPMs will drop or the car will just shut off.. If you let the car sit for a second it will crank back up but once you hit a small bump it will do it again. Does anyone have an idea of what the problem could be? The guy had the ECU taped on could that be the issue? (its modified and supposibly been flashed).

pop the hood and perform the ford "wiggle test" meaning go around while engine is running and wiggle / lightly tug on all harness and connections until car dies and there you will find loose/ bad connection

I did the "wiggle" test.. Found nothing but when i kick the front end the car revs up a little. could it be a security system? like the sensitivity....

I had the same problem about 3 years ago, I found that my ignition switch in my steering column was loose and every time i hit a bump it would shut off....check into that, if thats not it then youve got loose wires some were

So did you know about this issue before buying the car. If not, I think I would be contacting the seller.

Took it to the shop and they said i had a vacuum leak behind the intake manifold but i do not thinkthats it. I was not aware of the problems when i bought it.
