Where to set my timing?
well to make a long story short, my MSD distributor officially took a dump. the inside of the distributor rusted up n MSD said it was a design flaw and wouldent fix it for under $200 bec its out of warrante. So I bought a new summit distributor andI’m installing the new distributor this week but im not sure where you set the timing.i had the car dyno tuned ni can t get a hold of the shop to find out where they set it at. I wasn’t able to check it before the distributor stopped working all together.anyone got a good starting point?

RE: Where to set my timing?
I'm running a 347 with edelbrock heads and intake it's got forged internals n probe pistons, stud gurtel full aeromotive fule system all MSD ignition stuff. 70mm throtle body ford racing t5 trans. Outing in an IRS out of an 03 cobra. The entire car is set up for forced induction n I didn't skimp on any parts. LOL

RE: Where to set my timing?
when I had the tune done the put in a chip from super chips. They went through a d checked everything including the fuel pressure spark plug gap. The whole 9 yards. I finally got a hold of the owner of the place that did my runs n he said they base everything off of 10' n that's where they left mine at. Going to pit it there for now, I may try n bump it up to see how she runs. Thanks to everyone that helped me out.

RE: Where to set my timing?
what exactly rusted? cant just put a new cap and rotor in?
my 347 afr 185s vic efi msd and aeromotive is set at 16.
just took the car down the track, forgot my timming light, fuel pressure was set at 39 and the plugs looked perfect, been driving it on the street allot no problems at all.
next time i go to the track im going to set it a little higer and up the pressure see how it goes

RE: Where to set my timing?
What Adder is getting at is that the chip is where your timing has been adjusted.
You need to set your base timing to 10*, as all of the timing changes the shop made were in the timing tables of the ecu.
If you do try bumping your base timing, only go in 2* increments and listen very carefully to how the motor runs.
If the shop did a decent job of working your timing tables you won't be able to increase the timing much, if at all.
