Default Fog lights pigtail harness

I'm sure this must have been asked before, but I could not find it in the "search". I have a '89 LX convertible (w/ no foglights) and am planning to add some after market driving lights. I saw the factory wiring harness appears to be in place already. My question is can this be pretty much a "plug & play" if i get a new headlight/foglight dash switch and hook it all up???

Thanks

you'll need to get the switches= headlight/fog/ dimmer set up I believe.. I just did a similar thing for a guy on his pt cruiser and the harness was there but I had to take the cluster out and switches and install the pin connections that were tapped back and not installed in the connectors....not sure if it's the same for a fox.. I doubt it but you may have to install a fuse in the fuse box to in the correct position..personally I'd just buy the switch and a relay and wire the system seperate using it's own relay as the foxes had probs with the factory fog light wiring and caused the circuitry to overload and burn up fuse boxes and harnesses cause the wiring was not heavy enough to carry the current load... there is a TSB on this from Ford

Thanks. I may still try it as the aftermarket lights probably do not have the same power the originals did. I'll hunt for the TSB though as you suggest.

I realize this thread is a bit dated now, but I finally got around to finishing hooking up my aftermarket driving lights with an OEM headlight/foglight switch I found on Ebay. They work but I thought I'd be able to use the "fogs" with just parking lights but it won't activate them. Did the fogs only work w/ Headlights? If so, did anyone ever come out with a "plug in" that would allow the fogs to work w/ Parking lights? I know I have seen guys driving around with just parking and fog lights running and I can't imagine they all re-wired differently?

Thanks for the help

I printed off. Wonderig if there is any info (diagram) on just altering the existing switch to allow fog/parking to work. I realize that will not solve the "heat up" issue but I'm thinking the car is now infrequently driven and even less so w/ fogs + my aftermarket lights may not demand as much power as the original fog lights.

Thanks

aftermarket lights will almost surely demand more power. the link i gave you costs about $17 and takes 2 hours to do, and never have to worry about anything again.
